Meet Kathleen Bailey

Watch my short (1:44) video below to get to know a little bit about me, my history in Mountain View, and my time on Council.

Qualifications

As a Faculty Associate-Research at the Naval Postgraduate School and a PhD candidate, adjunct lecturer, and research assistant in the School of Public Affairs at the University of Colorado Denver (CU Denver), I am excited to be able to put my academic studies into practice in the town where my husband and I have chosen to raise our son.

The PhD program I am in gives me the knowledge to understand what drives policy change at a bird’s eye level and how we can improve governing practices on the ground at the local level to achieve our goals.

While at CU Denver I have also worked in a social science research lab, and I currently support the Master of Public Administration (MPA) Program Director as a research assistant. I also serve as an adjunct lecturer and I have taught a semester-length, graduate-level course on public service leadership and ethics. My education, research, and teaching experience make me uniquely suited to continue serving residents’ interests on the Town Council.

Council Experience

In November of 2017, I was honored to be elected to the Mountain View Town Council and I currently serve on both the Community Development and Outreach Committee and the Sustainability Committee. My goals with these two committees are to encourage the Town Council to incorporate community outreach throughout the entire process of guiding the town and to help lead Mountain View residents and Town Hall toward more environmentally sustainable practices that enhance our lives. I have also served on the Economic Development Committee and the Public Safety Committee.

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about why I’m seeking re-election to Mountain View Council.
